The closeby Mnemba Atoll is one of the best diving spots on Zanzibar. With warm waters averaging 27C (80F) and good visibility, the waters around the island are awash with colourful marine life. Due to it’s popular location the fish are used to divers which allows you to get very close and appreciate their beauty. It is a stunning diving location for experts and beginners alike.

The surrounding waters are teaming with an overwhelming number of beautiful tropical reef fish, and a wealth of marine creatures; from the majestic whale shark (who migrate past Zanzibar between August and November) to rare gem-like species of nudibranchs. A popular destination for experienced divers is a sheer drop-off called the Big Wall which plunges steeply from 35m to 70m, dolphins and turtles are common sight here. Other sites include drift dives along the western edge, the lunar landscape of Wattabomi, and the fringing reef at Kichwani, whose corals grow just metres from the surface.

Leven Bank – north of The Zanzibari, is an exciting spot for experienced divers with depths from 18 to 30 meters. Big game fish like tuna, king fish, barracudas, trevally, wrasses, big moray eels and large schools of reef fish can be seen here.

We use Spanish Dancer a nearby dive PADI dive centre who will be able to teach beginners in our pool and also arrange excursions to the wide variety of dive spots off the coast of Zanzibar. All the equipment is new and regularly serviced and will be provided to you at the dive centre.
